"We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly."

- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Integrating Personal, Relational, and Social Change

Personal change leads to transformative social change. It requires courage to examine the beliefs, assumptions, and implicit bias that contribute to suffering in our lives, in our relationships, and in our world. Awareness, radical honesty, compassionate perspective-taking, and a willingness to make mistakes are required to bring about healing and bridge the divisions of race, gender, class, identity, faith, and politics.

Riverlight offers workshops aimed at enhancing personal awareness, increasing understanding, and developing practical skills and strategies to create a culture of inclusion and equity.

Riverlight workshops are dynamic and engaging. You can expect clear, direct instruction, ample discussion, and lots of opportunity to practice new strategies and skills, all delivered with authenticity and sprinkled with a fair bit of humor!

Creating a Culture of Inclusion and Equity

Culture change requires the courage to take new perspectives, learn new skills, be willing to make mistakes, and to keep trying. We must work together to recognize the harmful actions that exclude, negate, and/or harm certain groups. Together, we can take concrete steps to prevent further harm, one action at a time.

Creating a culture of inclusion and equity

Implicit bias results in subtle microaggressions, that exclude, negate, or minimize the experiences of certain groups. The cumulative effect of microaggressions over time significantly impair an individual’s well-being, compromises teams’ capacity for complex decision-making and innovation, impairs employee retention, and results in unequal access to jobs, housing, and other resources. This workshop offers concrete strategies for creating environments that work to address and remedy the exclusion of marginalized groups in the workplace.
